We are games testers.

This half term in Computing we are being Games Testers.  We will be playing lots of games, but learning lots about computing!

This website will test your maths addition skills.
How do you win?
What happens if you win?
What happens when you get a correct answer?
What happens when you get one wrong?

All computer games work on rules, they can never change themselves but may learn from what you put in.

Budding Artists…

In Year 2, we have been learning about Derek Gores. He is a collage artist.

Last week we planned what our collages would look like, yesterday we created our pieces of art and today we showcased them in a class gallery opening.

Look at the work that went into our collages! We have learnt that really good collages take time, they can not be rushed.

I’m bigger than you…

Agatha-Trunchbull

Does bigger mean better?

Miss Trunchball seemed to think so, however today in maths year 2 investigated the difference between centimetres and metres.

First, we predicted. There were very different predictions from; 20, 60, 80, 608, 102, 1000, and 1050.

Then we discovered that there are ONE HUNDRED centimetres (cm) in ONE metre (m).

100cm = 1m

Here are some photos of us using centimetre cubes to measure how many fit into one metre.

The ART of angry birds!

In computing today we have been using all the skills we have learned in Paint to try and draw our own Angry Bird or Evil Pig! We had to use the shape tool, fill as well as some free hand drawing and even the rubber!

Mr Connolly drew a different characters for each class so we could see how the can be drawn. He even put on a ‘How to’ guide on screen – can you have a go at drawing them at home using his guides?

If you do a good one please save it and e-mail Mr Connolly –challenge@holbrookprimary.com

Emotional Roller Coasters

IMPORTANT NOTICE

In English we are reading a story, BUT we are reading it a page a day to develop a depth and breadth of understanding. It is really important that this isn’t disrupted by having your child read the entire story at home. Once we have completed it, I’m sure the children would love to share the story with you, but for now, please hold off from reading it with them.

In English, we have been discussing emotion’s and how a character’s emotions can change even in a few pages.

We have been looking carefully at the pictures to gather evidence of these emotions.
